Winston County Sheriff Warns Public of Scam Efforts

Winston County Sheriff Jason Pugh has issued a warning for local residents concerning several scam attempts across the county in the last few days. On at  least three occasions in various parts of the county, two black males have approached residents at their homes and requested money. The men have used several stories that include the death of a loved one or a sick child that needed assistance in an effort to obtain money.

Two separate vehicles may have been used by the men - including a small white Chevrolet pickup and a black Lincoln Town car.

Residents are requested to report any suspicious activity and record a license plate number if possible. Contact the Winston County Sheriff's Office at 662-773-5881.
