Traffic Stop Yields Drugs/Weapons

Winston County Sheriff Deputies made a stop of a suspicious vehicle on Sunday night (July 5) that netted drugs and weapons. Deputies stopped a suspicious vehicle on McBrayer Road near Hwy 490 and found a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, various drug paraphenalia, a sawed-off shotgun w 40 rounds of buckshot and an assortment of knives and pipes.  The driver of the vehicle, Michael Shafer, was taken into custody and charged with probation violation - possession of a firearm. He was also charged with felony possession of meth and drug paraphenalia. Shafer was on parole from charges in the New Albany area and is currently in custody at the WCCRCF.  A nine month old child was in the vehicle at the time of the arrest.
