The Winston County Sheriff's Junior Deputy Graduation

The Winston County Sheriff's Junior Deputy Program concluded on Friday evening, July 1 as graduates took the "oath of office" and received their certificates as Jr. Deputies. The week long program for kids from age 6-12 was held at the South Louisville Baptist Church where kids had the opportunity to learn and experience about law enforcement, fire prevention, emergency management, wildlife law enforcement and nutrition from officers and volunteers from the Ms. Highway Patrol, the Louisville Fire Department, emergency management personnel, Ms. Game and Fish Officers and Winston County Extension personnel.

Officers Mark Gregory and Jimmy Lovorn conducted the classes and Sheriff Jason Pugh indicated that the program was such a success and a pleasure not only for the kids but also the officers that plans are in the works to continue the program and possibly expand it. Graduation ceremonies took place in the courtroom of the Winston County Courthouse.
